Dividing his time between New York City and Lawrence, Kansas, Mr. Herren is active in the musical life of both regions, performing regularly with The Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the American Composers Orchestra, the New York Concert Singers, as well as the Kansas City Symphony and Chamber Orchestra.  He has been heard with prominent ensembles of his generation, including Metamorphosen Chamber Ensemble, Concertante Chamber Players and the Boston Modern Orchestra Project.  Recent activities include premieres at the 92nd Street “Y” with Regina Resnik and Merkin Concert Hall, recitals at the Helicon Foundation and St. Paul’s Chapel in New York, and with Trio Fedele, the world-premiere recording of Lowell Liebermann's trios for flute, cello and piano.  In the popular music world, he has appeared with Metallica, Smokey Robinson, Vanessa Williams and Iranian singing legend Shahram Nazeri and has recorded with Lisa Loeb and folk singer Deborah Flanders. Mr. Herren is also active as a concert presenter, having served as operations manager and a member of the advisory board of the Helicon Foundation. This New York City organization, founded by harpsichordist Albert Fuller, has produced recordings and salon performances of chamber music on period instruments for more than twenty years.
